Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Drive rapid and consistent growth in retirement plan revenues

  • Formulate and implement a strategy to recruit or acquire experienced Retirement Plan Advisors in all markets where IMA has a significant Employee Benefits presence
  • Recruit and develop Associate Retirement Plan Advisors to build bench strength, capacity, and collaboration in established retirement plan markets
  • Design and implement strong sales management practices (e.g., CRM usage, pipeline development/management, best practice sharing, etc.

2. Promote increased profitability in the Retirement business

  • Design and implement disciplined pricing practices across all plan sizes and markets
  • Ensure client proposals align with pricing approach and levels
    (e.g., participant-level commitments, in-person meeting requirements)

3. Serve as an internal ambassador to the IMA community, creating visibility for the business and drive collaboration on client opportunities in both directions

  • Proactively represents the Retirement business across the IMA ecosystem, identifying and leveraging opportunities to embed retirement plans in the minds and operations of IMA’s insurance and employee benefit businesses
  • Drive collaboration with key stakeholders related to the Retirement business
    (e.g., Marketing, Compliance, Investments, Ops/Tech, Private Equity and M&A practice)

4. Promote collaboration between Retirement and Private Wealth to identify and capture opportunities to serve retirement plan participants on their personal financial needs

  • Ensure Retirement Plan Advisors create client relationships that facilitate effective and efficient interactions with participants around financial education and engagement
  • Work with IMA Private Wealth to design and implement mechanisms to identify, qualify, and introduce prospective Private Wealth clients from within plan participant ranks

5. Create a culture of compliance to minimize the risk of regulatory issues

  • Work with Compliance, Operations, and Technology to design, implement, and enforce practices that keep the Retirement business on sound regulatory footing
  • Regularly reinforce the importance of compliance in the normal course of business

6. Support and demonstrate IMA’s core values

  • Reinforce the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion among all IMA associates
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

 Required Experience and Skills include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred
  • FINRA Series 65 required (additional licensing may be needed)
  • 15+ years’ experience in retirement plan industry required
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, acquire, and grow retirement plan advisors and practices
  • Prior experience with RPAG and Salesforce platforms strongly preferred
  • High levels of ethical behavior in accordance with professional and industry standards
  • Ability to foster positive interactions between associates; acts as an example for others
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively formulate and communicate a strategic vision for the growth of the Retirement business
  • Critical thinking and problem solving with high degree of self-direction and attention to detail
  • Moderate to significant travel for recruiting activities and in-person coaching/leadership of a national team

Salary Range
$250,000—$280,000 USD
