Apply Now

IMA is seeking an AI Fellow embedded within Human Resources to help accelerate our People + AI transformation—redefining how we work, scale, and deliver our associate experience and business growth through our people systems.

As a full-time summer HR AI Fellow you will build, test, and deploy real AI-enabled solutions that improve manager and HR productivity, enhance decision-making, and free up capacity for higher-value work across the organization.

You will operate at the intersection of workforce strategy, HR operations, talent management, and applied AI.

The Fellow will leave a measurable, operational impact on how HR works at IMA.

Why This Role Matters
IMA is actively investing in AI as a core capability, not a side project. AI is expected to:

  • Reduce manual, repetitive HR work
  • Improve speed and quality of decision-making
  • Enable more personalized, insight-driven talent management
  • Free up HR capacity for strategic, high-value work

This Fellow will directly contribute to that transformation.

Core Responsibilities

Build HR AI Prototypes

  • Develop working prototypes for internal HR tools, such as:
  • “Ask HR” assistant (policy, coaching, HR guidance)
  • Talent insights/analytics copilots for workforce planning
  • Productivity and headcount modeling tools
  • Use tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies

Reimagine HR Workflows

  • Identify manual, repetitive processes across HR Ops, Talent, and Total Rewards
  • Redesign workflows using AI to:
  • Reduce cycle time
  • Improve consistency and quality
  • Increase scalability

Drive Workforce Insight & Decision Support

  • Partner with People Analytics and HR leaders to:
  • Generate insights on productivity, talent, and workforce trends
  • Build AI-assisted dashboards or decision tools
  • Support workforce redeployment and talent strategy efforts

Experiment, Learn, and Share

  • Rapidly test ideas using a “build, test, learn, iterate” approach
  • Document learnings and create a capstone case study
  • Share best practices across HR and the broader AI Fellows cohort

Expected Outcomes
By the end of the fellowship, the AI Fellow will:

  • Deliver at least 1–2 deployable AI solutions or prototypes
  • Quantify impact (e.g., time saved, productivity gains, decision quality)
  • Create a case study demonstrating business value and learnings
  • Help establish repeatable patterns for scaling AI in HR

Candidate Profile

IMA HR is seeking a motivated undergraduate or graduate student interested in technology, business, AI, or data analytics to leverage AI in support of priority initiatives.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Strong curiosity about AI and its application to business problems
  • Experience using AI tools (LLMs, automation tools, or analytics tools)
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to translate ambiguity into structured solutions

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience in one or more of:
  • Data analysis (Python, SQL, Excel)
  • Prompt engineering or LLM workflows
  • Workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier)
  • Interest in HR, workforce strategy, or organizational effectiveness

How You’ll Work

  • Embedded within IMA’s HR leadership team
  • Sponsored by the Chief People Officer organization
  • Partnering closely with:
  • People Analytics
  • HR Operations
  • Talent Management

You will also participate in the Colorado Thrives AI Fellows cohort, including cohort learning sessions, cross-company collaboration, and a final showcase.

Why Join IMA for This Fellowship?

  • Direct access to senior leadership and strategic work
  • Opportunity to shape how a scaled organization innovates with AI in HR
  • Real ownership of projects—not just support work
  • Exposure to workforce strategy, talent, and business operations
