CDC Shortens Quarantines
Dec 2, 2020
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are reducing the recommended quarantine for exposure to Covid-19 from 14 days to just 10 days, or 7 days with a negative test conducted within 48 hours of the planned end of the quarantine (so early in the morning on day 6).
Back in July, the CDC had already reduced the quarantine for those with Covid-19 to 10 days after symptoms first appeared (if they’ve been free of fever without the aid of medication for 24 hours and other symptoms are improving). But the quarantine for asymptomatic individuals exposed but not diagnosed has remained at 14 days. Shortening this should help individuals comply when FFCRA emergency paid sick leave protections end on December 31, 2020.
