Director and President, Retail Insurance
Spence Hoole serves as Retail President of IMA Financial Group, where he leads all retail insurance operations nationwide, including Property & Casualty, Employee Benefits, and Shared Services. Prior to his current position, he served as President of IMA’s Mountain Region, guiding the firm’s growth and strengthening the firm’s presence across the Intermountain West.
In 2001, he co-founded Diversified Insurance Group and spent two decades building it into one of the region’s most respected insurance brokerages. The firm joined IMA Financial Group in August 2021, and under Spence’s leadership, the Salt Lake City office has doubled in size.
Deeply engaged in the business community, Spence serves on the board of the National Association of Corporate Directors Utah Chapter and Make-A-Wish Utah, and on the advisory board of TechBuzz. He is a former President of TechAssure and an active contributor to Silicon Slopes. A recognized authority on risk management for high-growth companies, Spence has addressed audiences across the country and internationally on insuring and managing complex business risks.
He is also a leader in director education, having co-founded the Summit Directors and Officers Conference, which he has co-chaired for more than 25 years.
Spence and his wife, Ann, reside in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
