Job Summary:
The Team Lead, Client Executive is a strategic leadership role within the Employee Benefits department. This position is responsible for leading a high-performing team while also serving as a senior-level client executive. The role requires a balance of operational oversight, team development, and direct client engagement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced industry knowledge, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to excellence in service delivery and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Lead and manage a team of individual contributors and/or managers.
- Oversee team performance, including time and attendance, performance reviews, and employee relations.
- Drive retention of team members and the team’s book of business through effective leadership, engagement, and strategic client management.
- Ensure clarity of team goals, delegation of responsibilities, and efficient workflow.
- Prioritize and distribute workload across the team to ensure balance and efficiency.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
- Support team members with overflow work and complex client issues.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Ensure compliance with FLSA standards and employment laws.
Client Executive Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic advisor and primary contact for select clients.
- Support team members in client-facing activities including renewals, escalations, and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with producers to develop retention strategies and identify new business opportunities.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and vendor partners.
- Ensure exceptional internal and external client service delivery.
- Function as a subject matter expert and resource for complex client needs.
Operational & Strategic Duties
- Engineer and manage efficient team workflows and service delivery processes.
- Ensure proper utilization of agency management systems (e.g., EPIC, Smartsheets).
- Contribute to department initiatives and operational improvements.
- Support prospecting efforts and contribute to business development.
- Drive profitability through effective team and client management.
- Attend company meetings, client meetings, carrier functions, and industry events.
- Actively participate in Employee Benefits initiatives and cross-functional projects.
Qualifications
- College degree preferred.
- 7–10 years of experience in the Employee Benefits industry, including leadership and client management roles.
- Active Life & Health License required.
- Advanced knowledge of Employee Benefits products, services, and market trends.
- Strong technical skills: Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel), EPIC, Smartsheets.
- Completed Rembrandt review or equivalent leadership assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage client relationships, and drive results.
- High integrity, emotional intelligence, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Fast-paced, multi-tasking professional environment.
- Frequent computer use; ability to sit for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of office materials (up to 10 lbs).
- Moderate noise level typical of office settings.
- Local travel required; occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
